To connect your laptop/computer to your HDTV via HDMI you only need one HDMI cable. ------HOWE VER, if you don't have a HDMI connection on your laptop/computer, but have a VGA connection and a HDMI connection on your HDTV, you can connect both of them using a converter box (VGA to HDMI).
